This tweet hopes to help you, a retail investor, live a little longer.
Speaking the truth, it's likely to get scolded, but it still needs to be said. Hope it's useful.
In this circle, the first thing is to learn to distinguish ads, the second thing is to ask boldly.
1⃣ First, if you still can't tell ads up to now, you are most likely to lose everything in this circle.
❌ If your timeline shows about ten similar posts within one hour, that's most likely a promotional blast.
❌ If it's a concentrated promo, then whether it's a new launch or meme projects, you must invest cautiously.
❌ If you're unsure, DM the KOL who posted the tweet or leave a comment—both are good ways to verify.
❌ When you see paid promotion, be extra careful. -- If a post gets a paid boost within an hour, it's most likely a promo.
2⃣ Secondly, promotion is necessary; brands like Mixue Bingcheng, Alipay, Unilever spend huge marketing budgets every year.
Good projects like $M, $River have appeared on info sites. Of course, a pump is the best marketing.
3⃣ The community splits KOLs into two camps.
◾️ One is pure KOLs who earn a bit of ad revenue.
◾️ The other is KOL + pump‑and‑dump groups. Many meme pumps are driven by this type of KOL.
The second type will ask the first type to promote. They may even have KOLs post short‑sell screenshots to manipulate the market, creating targeted attacks on retail traders.
Cities like Shenzhen and Changsha host many of these pump‑and‑dump outfits.
It's not just retail investors; even KOLs get targeted. Some coins in Alpha show their fingerprints.
I have no intention to expose these underlying trades, nor do I know them fully.
In many roles, I'm just another scammed retail trader. I know two friends who constantly run copy‑trades, rug pulls, rug pulls, rug pulls.
They focus on thin‑margin high‑volume industrial‑style pumps.
I just think you should be aware of this. Sometimes the money lost feels unfair. I've also lost small amounts on many messy projects. Knowing a bit more can keep your capital much smaller.
The biggest loss in the past two years was probably Apt.
A KOL is basically a larger retail trader who can also lose money and needs to vet projects.
📛 When I'm not sure if a project is just a promo, I ask the poster whether it's a promo. If others ask me, I tell them.
That way, at least you can avoid many junk projects.
Of course, that’s not an excuse to take junk projects; many of these are unwritten rules you all know.
I didn’t understand the recent ETH stuff. Many new copy‑trades are just flow‑through pumps—be careful. I sometimes just give away 200 or 300.
4⃣ Finally, if you want to use my link or anything, tell me first. I’ll warn you. I’m willing to lose a small amount, but if I’ve marked a post as paid promotion and you still go all‑in, I won’t be part of it.
Be conscientious, that's all.
If more than ten people insult me, I’ll delete this. Speaking the truth isn’t easy.
