Just saw the news that @stripe, @Visa, @Mastercard, and @coinbase are reportedly forming a consortium to launch their own stablecoin
Circle issues USDC, but Coinbase is the reason it got so massive. Coinbase and its users hold around $19 billion of it, more than a quarter of all the USDC in circulation.
And that reach isn't free.
@circle earns money from the interest on the reserves backing USDC, and Coinbase already captures the bigger share by keeping 100% of the interest on USDC held on its platform, while splitting the rest 50/50.
So picture Coinbase with its own coin.
They can point users to it instead of USDC and keep all the interest, instead of splitting it with Circle. It controls the distribution, so nothing stops it.
Circle's biggest partner turning into its biggest competitor could be the story of the century.

The compensation applies to users who, between 04:50 and 06:00 on June 2, 2026 (UTC+8), had their EDGE long positions on edgeX Perp V1 or V2 liquidated or stop‑loss triggered resulting in realized losses, and who have submitted a Discord ticket.
